Life Line Myths: What This Palm Line Does and Does Not Mean

The life line curves around the base of the thumb and is traditionally associated with vitality, rootedness, physical resilience, and how forcefully someone engages life.

The most common myth is that a short life line means a short life. In most palmistry traditions, that is not how the line is read. A shorter line may point toward lower reserves, stronger need for recovery, or a life organized through more careful pacing. A deep line may suggest stronger stamina or groundedness.

Breaks, forks, and changes are often read as transitions, interruptions, or directional shifts rather than catastrophe. The life line is best treated as a vitality indicator, not a countdown clock.
